2017 Bulls E-Stream Evo FS 2 27.5 Plus Review

The new 2017 Bulls electric bikes are in! Bulls is still a pretty new brand to the US, so we want to give you a detailed look at their 2017 lineup. They offer a wide variety of mountain, commuter, and cross electric bikes. Here is our 2017 Bulls E-Stream Evo FS 2 27.5 Plus review.

The 2016 models definitely impressed, and this year’s bikes are no different. This electric bike has some incredible specs for the price point of $4799. Bulls built this bike with Magura MT-5 and MT4 brakes (front and rear, respectively) which provide smooth, effective stopping power. You’ve got front and rear derailleurs, both Shimano Deore XT Shadow Plus. This provides a total of 22 gears to choose from. The frame itself is a lightweight aluminum. The suspension is another solid feature. You’ve got front and rear RockShox shocks with 150mm of travel for an excellent mountain biking experience.

I’ve started to become a very big fan of Brose motors. They are powerful, coming in with 90nm of torque, and have cadence and torque sensors. This really optimizes performance. They also are one of the few motors that offer a dual chainring up front. The motors allow for a 650 watt hour battery life, which is really unparalleled on the market. They are also very quiet. You truly cannot hear it in the lower RPMs.

Getting on this bike and riding is pretty awesome. There is no trouble starting up thanks to that incredibly high torque. You can really tell the difference in your center of gravity because Brose and Bulls have found a way to completely integrate the battery into the downtube. I think they do this better than any other brand. You almost can’t even tell it is there. The ride is very smooth when using the suspension, but you can also lock it out for a sturdier ride. The new Schwalbe Rocket Ron tires (upgraded to 2.8″ wide) provide some solid cushion and great traction on the toughest trails. The shifting is incredibly smooth, and you can tell it helps the motor to have 22 speeds.

I’d recommend this bike mostly for people who want to do some serious mountain biking. Of course, you could also use it for commuting, but it is really geared towards mountain bikers.
