The 2017 Haibikes are starting to arrive at San Diego Fly Rides! We’ve been fans of Haibike since we’ve had them in our shops. The 2017 electric bikes have continued to impress. We haven’t reviewed any of the ladies electric bikes in this year’s lineups, so we figured it was about time. Here is our 2017 Haibike Sduro Trekking 5.0 Ladies review.
Trekking electric bikes are great for commuting, light trail riding, and long distance rides. Haibike and Yamaha have greatly improved your ability to go long distance on the 2017 Haibike Sduro Trekking 5.0 Ladies electric bike by bumping the battery life from 400 watt hours to 500 watt hours. This is a huge improvement on last year, and really closes the gap between this bike and some of the other bigger batteries on the market. Yamaha’s PW system is also starting to really up it’s game, and with a max torque of 80 newton meters and 500 watts overall, this is a powerful machine.
I think my favorite aspect of the components on the 2017 Sduro Trekking 5.o is that they have included a headlight and taillight. I find that these are always necessary for trekking bikes, and it’s nice to know that once you’ve purchased the bike you don’t have to worry about lights. The Suntour suspension fork with a steel spring and 63mm of travel is plenty for light trail riding and bumpy roads. The brakes and gears both come from the Shimano Deore XT series, and these are very solid systems. They shift smoothly and brake effectively. I’ve always had good experiences with these. The geometry of the bike feels great as well. It’s a nice, open ride providing comfort and efficiency.
Hopping on this bike, you notice that the high torque offers great pickup and smooth assist. I took this on a pretty bumpy trail and felt perfectly comfortable the whole time. The rear rack is unobtrusive and can hold a pretty hefty load thanks to the battery not being rear mounted. I’d recommend this bike for commuters and long distance riders looking to take their rides a little further.
